i, personally(not the kids), have been making my way through the newbery winners. i love the old ones like gay-neck and carry on, mr. bowditch. they are excellent.

Read these aloud this year to the younger boys. I probably loved Understood Betsy more than the boys did. (It's more of a girl book.) But they loved Mountain Born.
Those are just off the top of my head. I'll try to look at my bookshelf and give you some more. Thanks for the list....that will be great for summer reading fun!!!
